Thousands of years ago,the journey of my life is started I.e my birth, when I fell down from the height of 2000m in southern part of India's Rainforest . This journey of 1000years, have made me to shine and it helped me see 'N' number of peoples. Thanks to my parents and friends who are still living in this world, but in different places.
I could like to say a small story,the story is " Rain is the important source of water, it pours in forest where the source of almost all the rivers are starts. Rivers will carry out most of the wealth, minerals etc downstream and it will travel -> kms, empty water's into the oceans ". Like this rain water helped me to birth in this beautiful world.
Ha relax buddies, you guys may feel that, how its possible to live more than 120years. And how river could help to give a birth. Yes thats true, I was born because of river only. My birth place was beautiful, always ever green " Gods own country" kerala. Western ghats silent valley, myself and my siblings are known as Rocks in mountain.
Silent valley national park, is the birth place of river Bhavani(main tributary to kaveri). One fine day before 1000years, heavy rain hit that valley and that made many rocks to fell down the downstream of river. Thats the timei was born, Me and siblings are now known as " PEBBLES". Years passed away and my rock shape ends as pebbles and Now I owns my Apartment near Bay of Bengal beach.
In this many years, as I said have seen and heard many things., The place where half of life have gone is " Bhavani sagar dam". It was constructed in 1955, for irrigation purpose. Oh oh ohhhhh, indian dams have very weird history, I heard about this when a crew from "Indian institue of public Administration" and few social activists visited my dam.
They spoked " First ever prime minister of india had a wide arrange vision towards building a dam across India, he felt that dam will bring wealth and health to all. He even addressed If you are to suffer, you should suffer in the intetest of the country. Dams are build, India are 3rd among dam considers in the world which also have 4000+ big dams. Social activists said, for constructing a dam many thing have to be followed and taken care of, from environment to peoples who are all gonna displaced. But Dams constructed in India have caused many damages to environment,no safety measures is been taken, peoples displaced are mostly tribals and peoples who have been there for more than 100 years. Dams also blocks travels of rivers sediments, fish, leaves, pebbles, wealth to other place, has it blocks down the flow of water. Peoples replaced, forest have been destroyed, wildlife etc etc. Also Dams haven't meet the reason for which it is been constructed, many dams are in drought, few dams depends on other dams for water, Hydroelectricity generation is not at full force,. Few dams have been main reason for Earthquake accuration in that particular area.
Organisations like 1. Narmada bachao Andolan, 2. Silent valley movement, 3. world commission dam, 4. indian institute of public administration, 5. tribals supporters like Mahasweta devi, 6. Writers named Arundhathi Roy, Theodore Baskaran are still fighting for the rights of people, few against the construction of dams etc etv.
This is what I have heard from the people who have visited the Bhavani sagar dam. They have mentioned me there, and said we will cause bad effect on dams capacity. Even I felt few those are correct, from silent valley to this dam I have travelled 190kms, by staying in few places, have meet many friends and those friends have helped to rich the places but after reaching this dam, They have forced all of us to stay in one place by this dam. Even I heard that peoples are fighting for rivers, by constructing this dams, few fighting for connecting rivers. Oh my gosh, for constructed dams, millions of people are suffering and replaced in new lifestyle. If all rivers are connected, then it will end 10^**** million peoples life, forest, animals birds lifes.
Rather believing in constructing big dams and connecting rivers, try following the old method (tanks, ponds ) of saving water when it rains in your place. By the time of saying all this its me Pebble, feeling really happy. That I have been taken by one friend and have been placed in Rain Water Harvesting tank.
